Straight answers on level, gear, insurance and what happens when the weather or a flight does not cooperate.
Do I need to be an advanced rider?
This itinerary is built for intermediate to intermediate advanced riders. Ixtepeji and Murciélagos Bike Park are genuinely technical trail systems: long descents, real speed, and terrain that rewards bike handling skill. It is not a beginner route, and we would rather tell you that now than on the mountain.
You should be comfortable riding flowing singletrack with roots, loose loam and switchbacks for several hours a day, on consecutive days, at altitude.
Do I need my own bike?
Yes, riders bring their own bike. Premium full suspension and E-MTB rentals are available as an add-on if you would rather not fly with yours.
What insurance do I need?
International travel insurance that explicitly covers mountain biking and adventure sports, mountain rescue and medical evacuation. This is mandatory and is not provided by the operator. Proof must be submitted before Day 1, or participation cannot begin.
What if my flight is delayed?
Your flight must land in Mexico City one day before the first riding day. That buffer night exists precisely for this. If a delay still occurs, we coordinate with the group: either the group waits, or we arrange for you to rejoin the itinerary at the next stop. Days missed due to a delayed arrival cannot be recovered or refunded.
What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?
- Localized weather Rain, an unrideable section or a closed-out surf break: we modify the itinerary with equivalent trails or cultural activities. The trip continues and no partial refunds apply.
- A major event For example, a hurricane on the Pacific coast: we provide an alternative safe route, or a travel credit valid 12 to 18 months to reschedule. Cash refunds do not apply in these cases.
What's your cancellation policy?
- More than 60 days before Day 1: 100% of the balance refunded
- 30 to 60 days before: 50% of the balance refunded
- Under 30 days or no show: no refund
- The 50% booking deposit is non refundable in all cases
Can I book as a solo traveler or a small group?
Yes. Minimum group size is 2 riders. Solo travellers can join an open departure, and private departures for 2 to 8 riders are also available.
Is a single room available?
Yes, for a supplement of $650 USD for the full trip. Otherwise accommodation is double occupancy.
